She is focused on BCI (non-invasive brain interfaces), Transcraneal Current Stimulation (tCS), artifact detection, event detection during gait, and rehabilitation robotics.

Visiting Researchers

Nayeli Angulo

nayeli

Nayeli Angulo is a scientific researcher in the Biomedical Signal Processing Laboratory at Cinvestav-Monterrey and she was accepted as a visiting student in the Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab at Miguel Hernández University. She holds an M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering and Physics and she is currently doing a Ph.D. Degree in Biomedical Engineering and Physics.

Her current research interests are BCI training proposal and evaluation, considering both BCI achieved performance and EEG changes.

Christoph Wilms

nayeli

Christoph Wilms is a student at the University of Applied Science Bremen (Germany). He is studying International Degree Programme in Biomimetics B.Sc. and is doing a semester abroad in the Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab at Miguel Hernández University of Elche.

His task is to design a 3D-printable exoskeleton for the upper limb starting with the hand. This exoskeleton should be controlled by using a Brain Computer Interface (BCI).

Collaborators

Andrés Úbeda

aubeda

Andrés Úbeda is assistant professor in the Department of Physics, System Engineering and Signal Theory of the University of Alicante, member of the research group AUROVA (University of Alicante) and regular collaborator with the Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab at Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Spain). He holds a M.Sc in Industrial Engineering from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (2009) and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (2014). During his Ph.D. he was visiting researcher in the Chair in Non-invasive Brain-Machine Interface at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland (May-Jul 2013). He was also postdoctoral research visitor in the Institute of Neurorehabilitation Systems at the University Medical Center of Göttingen, Germany (Oct 2015-Sep 2016).

His main research is focused on studying neuromuscular mechanisms of motor control and coordination by assessing descending motor pathways during movement execution. Other research topics are centered on the analysis of cortical information in the decoding of motor intentions and their use in motor neurorehabilitation procedures. Additional research interests are human-machine interaction and assistive technologies in the field of neurorobotics, particularly focused on myoelectric and brain-controlled devices.
